Lexington man breaks into Belk through the roof

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Lexington man has been charged after he allegedly broke into a local Belk by entering through the roof on July 8.

27-year-old William Greene is charged with felony forced breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering and misdemeanor larceny, The-Dispatch reports.

Upon arrival, police concluded that Greene broke into the Belk at 69 Plaza Parkway through the ceiling, smashed display cases and stole makeup and watches. He also broke ceiling tiles on his way down.

Officials also received a call from Quality Inn stating that a television was stolen from a hotel room under his name.

Upon further investigation, detectives were able to locate Greene’s car and arrest him.

The stolen merchandise totaled $3,700.

Greene is being held under a $210,000 secured bond and has an Aug. 15 court date.
