WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A large tree fell on a house in Winston-Salem during the Tuesday afternoon storms, according to the Winston-Salem Fire Department.

Firefighters were called to 5639 Bull Run Road after a report of a tree falling on a house.

Two people were trapped inside a bedroom when the tree fell. The fire department got both of them out.

Due to the severity of the damage, the two people will not be able to stay in the home. The Red Cross has stepped in to help them.

“This is a tragic event. This is serious,” Battalion Chief Joe Ramsey said. “If this structure is a total loss then we’ve got a family here who’s lost a structure and that’s traumatic, so we want to do everything we can to help them, to assist them.”
