Kernersville man killed, child injured in Davidson County crash

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Kernersville man was killed and a child was injured in an accident in Davidson County on Sunday evening.

According to Trooper S.T. Harper, a call came in at 9:48 p.m. regarding an accident on Georgetown Road near Abbotts Creek Church Road.

Wiley Eugene East, 38, of Kernersville, was traveling east on Georgetown Road in a 2004 Ford Mustang when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the left side of the road and hit a tree. East was killed in the accident.

Harper said East was not wearing a seat belt and was estimated to be traveling 65 mph in a 55 mph zone.

An 11-year-old passenger was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with an incapacitating injury. It is unknown if the injury was life threatening.

The name of the child has not been released.

The official cause of the accident has not been released, Harper said.
