KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — A Kannapolis man is facing charges because police said he refused to listen to investigators when they ordered him to stay away from a 15-year-old girl.

According to WSOC, Eric Thomas was arrested and charged with second-degree kidnapping last week after police said he met up with the teen he was having an inappropriate relationship with after he was released from jail.

He was previously arrested Sept. 12 on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child when police were first notified of the relationship.

It was reported that Thomas’ mother, Barbara King, knew about the relationship and that it had gone on for a while.

King told WSOC that the girl kept trying to reach her son after his arrest. She said she told him to stay away from her, but he didn’t listen to her.

Thomas is in the Cabarrus County Jail under a $150,000 bond.
