BOSTON — An NBA player who was a star athlete at Duke University has been caught on video in a street fight.
TMZ reported that Philadelphia 76er Jahlil Okafor was involved in the street fight, which took place outside a nightclub in Boston on Thursday night.
Video released by TMZ appears to show the 19-year-old basketball star knocking a man to the ground by shoving and punching him.
“It was definitely dumb on my part,” Okafor told ESPN. “It’s something that I am embarrassed about. [I’m] still dealing with the league and the team. But I’m not happy about it at all.”
The scuffle happened after the 76ers lost to the Boston Celtics. Okafor can be seen in the video verbally sparring with some other people before the fight.
Okafor was a star at Duke, helping them win the 2015 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament.
Following Duke’s win, he announced he would enter the 2015 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the third overall pick.
