DALLAS – Images posted to Facebook show a Dallas police officer protecting a man from gunfire.

KDFW reported that Robert Moore said he was taking photos of the police brutality demonstration Thursday night as a massive crowd made its way around Dallas.

After the gunshots rang out, Moore said he ran to a car parked near a curb for shelter. Officers arriving on the scene made sure that civilians were safe.

Moore took photos of one of the officers who stayed in front of him to keep him safe.

“I’ve never been in a situation where one of the people was serving me so directly and watching out for me,” Moore said.

Twelve officers were shot — five are dead and seven injured — following the downtown Dallas protests, which were in response to deadly officer-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota.
