Man seriously burned in Winston-Salem house fire

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Fire officials say a man was seriously burned in an early Friday morning house fire in Winston-Salem.

The blaze was reported shortly after 4:15 a.m. at a two-bedroom home at the intersection of Glenn Avenue and 30th Street.

Fire Capt. Dwayne Jernigan tells FOX8’s Brandon Jones two men were inside the home when the fire broke out.

One of the men was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with serious burns to his arms and face, Jernigan said.

The other man was not injured.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.

Officials say the surrounding stretch of 30th Street will be closed for at least one or two hours.

No other details were immediately available.
