MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — The cause of a Mount Airy house fire is under investigation by local and state authorities.

Dispatchers said three departments responded to the call at 260 Beasley Road around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.   The home was fully engulfed in flames upon their arrival, said John Shelton, Director of Surry County Emergency Services.

The family who lives at the home is away on a camping trip, Shelton said.

The home is a total loss, Shelton said.

Shelton said the Surry County Fire Marshall, the Sheriff’s Department and the SBI are working together to learn the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
