WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Drivers on Highway 311 encountered something rather unusual Wednesday morning–a horse galloping down the road.

Officers had caught the horse around 10:40 a.m., but by then it had already caused traffic backups. A witness said the horse first got onto the highway at Ridgewood Road.

Neither the horse nor any people were injured. Officers were feeding the horse by the time FOX8 got to the scene.

It’s not clear where the horse came from or if the horse owner, if found, would face any charges.
