CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A man was killed when a minivan slammed through the kitchen wall of a home in Virginia Thursday evening.

The minivan veered off the road and hit a snow bank which caused it to go airborne, according to police.

Then the car plowed through a home, killing the homeowner.

Investigators are still working to determine whether the victim died when he was struck by the minivan or when part of the home collapsed.

A neighbor, Jeff Duncan, was in his backyard at the time of the crash and said he heard a loud screech and a big crash.

When Duncan went to see what happened, he saw a woman in the car motioning for help.

“She thought the gentleman who was driving the car was having a stroke and his foot got caught on the accelerator,” Duncan told WTVR. “They went across a lane of traffic and into the guy’s house.”

The driver and the passenger were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police have not released the name of the victim.
