Highway Patrol trooper involved in crash in Davie County

DAVIE COUNTY, N.C. — A Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a crash in Davie County Tuesday evening, according to Mocksville police.

The crash happened on Liberty Church Road just north of Bear Creek Church Road shortly before 6 p.m.

The trooper was responding to another reported crash when the accident happened, according to the William R. Davie Volunteer Fire Department.

The fire chief said his crew found a car in a ditch at the 900 block of Liberty Church Road. No one was inside. They later saw someone running in a field and wooded area. They requested help from law enforcement.

A spokesperson for highway patrol told us the trooper’s vehicle had its sirens and lights activated when they tried to pass traffic on the left. The trooper crashed into a car when the driver attempted to make a left turn into a driveway.

A 26-year-old was behind the wheel of the passenger vehicle.

Both she and the trooper were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries. Both have since been released from the respective medical centers.
