LEXINGTON, N.C. — The man who drowned in High Rock Lake Monday has been identified as Willie Wayne Williams  of Lexington.

Williams, 72, had health issues and apparently went swimming alone in the morning as he does every morning. Williams’ wife, who was not home at the time, realized around 3 p.m. that he was missing.

Authorities found his body around 4 p.m. after searching at the victim’s pier.

Williams’ body will be sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiners Office in Raleigh for an autopsy.
