High Point University confirms that missing student has died

HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University has confirmed that a student who went missing earlier this week has died.

Mario Mayorga was last seen Thursday in Greensboro, according to H.P.U. He was reported missing on Saturday.

Police have not released details surrounding Mayorga’s death.

The following is a statement that High Point University released to the media about the incident:

We are deeply saddened to report that HPU student Mario Mayorga died in Greensboro on Friday, April 24. The entire HPU Community grieves with and extends their sympathies to the Mayorga family. President Qubein has reached out to Mario’s parents to offer HPU’s prayers, assistance, and support during this difficult time.

A Community Prayer Vigil will be held tonight, Saturday, April 25th at 7:00pm in Hayworth Chapel. Counselors are also available for all HPU students.
