HIGH POINT, N.C. — A number of downed trees along Hickswood Road damaged property and left several without power.
“It knocked me out of bed,” said Suzanne Leonard, who was taking a nap when the storm came through. “Water started pouring through the roof.”
Several trees came down on her home, leaving holes in the roof. One sent a limb just a few feet from Leonard’s husband.
EMS believes powerful straight-line winds caused the damage, leaving many in the dark but thankfully safe. “We are all OK,” said Leonard. “That’s what matters.”
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
