MODESTO, Calif. — Residents of a neighborhood in Modesto, Calif., say that black herons have taken over and are terrorizing them, according to KTXL.

“They come out at night time and they’re noisy as heck, and they’ll crap anywhere,” said resident Beverly Jones said.

The herons reportedly occupy one tree in the neighborhood and feast on fish from nearby waters. As a result, residents say the neighborhood is covered in fish carcasses.

Some residents have even reported the birds chasing their children.

As tempting as it might be to try to get rid of the birds, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has said to leave them alone.
