PFAFFTOWN, N.C. — A rumor that a gun would be brought to Reagan High School today was not true, according to school officials.
School officials worked with law enforcement to investigate the rumor that began circulating on social media and through text messages Wednesday, according to Theo Helm, spokesperson for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Helm said the rumors appeared to be just that and didn’t connect to any specific person or threat.
“There haven’t been any guns at school today,” Helm said in email message this afternoon.
Reagan Principal Frank Martin sent out a phone message to parents this morning and responded on Twitter, telling parents that the school was aware of the rumors but had not found any truth to them.
“We are confident that we will have a safe day at school and we will continue to work with law enforcement to find the root of the rumors,” Martin said in the message.
Helm said there were extra police officers on the school campus today.
