GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — The number of special needs kids has exploded over the last few decades.  Autism diagnoses, alone, have gone from 1 in 10,00 to 1 in 68.

That has put a strain on school staffs and budgets, leaving many families feeling their children aren’t getting what they need.

So a group of families in Guilford County decided to do it, themselves — create a school, from scratch, dedicated to teaching children who have autism.  And, in this edition of the Buckley Report, see why they think Lionhart Academy will change their children’s lives.
