Guilford County deputy assaulted while trying to serve warrants

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. – A Guilford County sheriff’s deputy was assaulted while trying to serve an arrest warrant at a business on Friday morning, according to authorities.

The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at about 9:48 a.m. as a deputy was trying to serve five warrants for Jeffrey Taylor Kluttz at Innovation Station, LLC at 3107 S. Elm-Eugene St. in Greensboro.

Deputies said the business owner, Ishmael Lateef, approached the deputy, pushing and grabbing him, refusing to allow the deputy to serve the warrants on Kluttz.

Kluttz, 24, of Greensboro, was arrested and taken into custody on five warrants, two for breaking and entering, one for breaking and entering a vehicle and two for injury to real property.

Lateef, 31, of Greer, S.C., was arrested for assault of law enforcement officer and resist, delay and obstruct.

The arresting officer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from a local medical facility.
