Guilford County deputies find 8 pounds of heroin in battery of truck

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office seized about 8 pounds of heroin during a routine traffic stop on Feb. 5.

Roman Camacho, of Atlanta, Ga., was charged with trafficking heroin and maintaining a vehicle for keeping and selling controlled substances.

Deputies stopped a white Ford Super Duty truck driven by Camacho at 1:45 p.m. on I-40 near the High Point Road exit for a violation.

During a search, deputies found approximately 8 pounds of heroin within one of the batteries of the vehicle. Officials estimated the street value of the drugs is an approximate $360,000.

According to a release, this is the largest seizure of heroin in the department’s history.

Camacho is being held on a $500,000 bond.
