GREENSBORO, N.C. — Police say a 23-year-old Greensboro woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash.

According to police, Breanna Marie Newkirk is charged with felony hit-and-run, misdemeanor hit-and-run and failure to report a traffic crash in the collision that killed 39-year-old Calvin Gerome Hendrix.

Police say Hendrix died several days after he was struck while walking on High Point Road near West Court Street shortly before 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

Investigators who located the suspect vehicle and identified Newkirk as the driver were aided by witness statements, surveillance video from nearby businesses and numerous Crimestoppers tips, police said.

Police did not confirm what the suspect vehicle was, but it was described by witnesses as a gray Dodge Magnum.

The investigation is ongoing.  Additional details were not available.
