GREENSBORO, N.C. – Police are searching for a man in connection with the shooting death of a 5-year-old boy on Waugh Street on Friday night.

Police have issued a first-degree murder warrant against 22-year-old Murad Anthony Weaver in connection with this shooting.

The victim, 5-year old Caleb Harris Pearson, was taken to a local hospital where he died from his wounds, according to police.

The victim’s mother, Demetrius Harris, believes the shooting was an accident.

Weaver, the suspect, is the victim’s older brother.

Harris says Weaver shot out of anger, but didn’t mean to hurt anyone. Now, she wants Weaver to come home and turn himself in.

“I miss you,” Harris said, in hopes that Weaver would hear her message. “I love you. I forgive you. I don't hate you. I want you to come home. I'll come and turn yourself in with you. I know you didn't mean to do it and I love you. Just call me and come home.”

The investigation is ongoing.
