GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Greensboro man accused of murdering his girlfriend last July pleaded guilty to first degree murder on Tuesday.

Donald Thomas Johnson, Jr., 45, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, according to Guilford County Assistant District Attorney Howard Neumann.

Police said the remains of 38-year-old Angelique Lynn Sylvester were found at a home on Garden Lake Drive in July 2013.

Johnson, the victim’s boyfriend, was arrested at the home they shared at 1827 Pleasant Ridge Road.

Police said Sylvester had been reported missing on July 8, after her family had not heard from her since July 2.
