WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Get a cup of coffee, or enjoy a good book, just two new options inside the expansion of Goodwill's store on University Parkway in Winston-Salem.

Goodwill says the new section in the flagship store of its Northwest North Carolina  territory is in direct response to a growing number of shoppers.

Vice President Sherry Carpenter says,"we see more shoppers coming in and we appreciate that."

But Carpenter is quick to point out, it is not just a store. It's a job creator.

"It's also a benefit to students participating in training programs and job seeking opportunities here," says Carpenter

Goodwill officials say the new cafe' helps them offer more job opportunities to those in their training programs and it creates more jobs for the community.

The space was once used for storage and an employee daycare but Goodwill officials say the idea of a bookstore and cafe' is a better way to offer students, shoppers and employees a quiet place to work, shop or job hunt.

The Goodwill Cafe' is now open. It offers snacks, coffee and drinks as well as free Wi-Fi.
