VILONIA, Ark. — “Goodbye mama” was one of the last messages a mom in Arkansas got from her son, seconds before he died in the April 27 tornadoes.

His last texts will be something she treasures forever.

According to KNWA, Jeffrey Hunter sent his mother several texts while he hid in the bathroom during the EF-4 tornado that slammed into his home.

His mother, Regina Wood, was 20 miles away.

Wood said she responded to his texts, telling him that he would be OK.

But she said they both knew the tornado was heading right towards him.

One of the last texts she has from him is “Goodbye mama” just as the tornado hit.

Wood said she tried to text him, asking if he was OK. But she never got a response.

The boy was found unconscious and later died from his injuries. His father and step-mother were with him during the storm. They were seriously injured.

The boy’s mother is heartbroken, but takes comfort in his last words to her.
