MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. — A North Carolina waitress was pleasantly surprised when she realized she got a $1,000 tip on a $75 tab.
ABC News reported that 24-year-old Kathryn Irwin recently received the generous tip while working at an Olive Garden in Morehead City.
“After the family left, I didn’t even look at the check book right away since we were short-staffed, so I went to help other team members,” Irwin said, according to ABC. “When I finally went back to get the book and enter the tip, I first noticed they wrote, ‘God bless you,’ on the check.'”
The waitress said she would like to thank the family that left her the tip. She said she used part of the money to pay for an elderly couple’s dinner and also donated to several Salvation Army kettles in the mall.
