Girls injured when bus overturns in Kansas, police say

BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. — A school bus carrying 36 sixth grade girls from an eastern Kansas school turned on its side Wednesday afternoon after the driver lost control, according to FOX 4.

After the injured had been taken to area hospitals, authorities reported the total number of injured students was 23, the driver was also seriously injured.

The fire department said when they arrived at the scene, four of the injuries were considered serious, five were considered moderate injuries and the rest were minor. The bus driver, a man, was the most seriously injured and had to be cut out of the bus.

It was unclear what caused the driver to lose control.
