Gas leak under control in Winston-Salem after three businesses evacuated

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A gas leak was been reported Thursday at Fairlawn Drive and Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem.

Piedmont Natural Gas was notified and three businesses were evacuated.

Winston-Salem Fire Department reported at about 1:30 p.m. that the leak is under control.

Roads have since been reopened, and businesses have returned to normal operations.

Fire officials say the leak was caused by construction work.
