HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Stanley Furniture is seeking over $400,000 in local incentives to consolidate its headquarters in Stanleytown, Va., its showroom in High Point and various satellite offices into one single location in downtown High Point.

Stanley Furniture officials said the company is considering moving its operations to a 60,000-square-foot space in downtown High Point currently owned and operated by International Market Centers.

“It’s a progression in an effort to grow the company and grow the Stanley brand, allowing us to showcase or high end brand with other high end brands," said Glenn Prillaman,  President and CEO of Stanley.

The High Point City Council will consider giving Stanley Furniture $340,000 in incentives on April 2, and the Guilford County Commissioners will consider a $76,000 county incentives package on April 12. The company could also receive incentives from the state.

“The new location would allow us to be among other high end brands and allow upper end customers to shop under one roof," said Prillaman. "Moving to High Point would allow everyone to be in one location as opposed to being spread out across North Carolina and Virginia.”

If the incentives are awarded, Stanley will move forward with the project with the showroom possibly ready for the April 2013 market.

“We will be a better company if funds are approved to move Stanley to downtown High Point. This will be great for downtown High Point, Stanley will do major renovation on the building," said Prillaman.

Stanley currently occupies a 50,000-square-foot showroom in C-1158 of the IHFC. A small satellite office is at 4100 Mendenhall Oaks Parkway in High Point. Its headquarters is in Stanleytown, Va. and houses functions such as customer service, accounting, IT, as well as executive offices.

“Our corporate offices will be next to the showroom and it’s quite exciting.”
