ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Rockingham County residents can dump trash for free at the county’s landfill all this week.

County commissioners approved the service at a meeting March 25. The popular service, which is prohibited to commercial trash companies, is now in its 20th year.

The landfill is located at 281 Shuff Road in Madison. It will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Hazardous waste, liquids, paint, shingles, remodeling or other commercial waste will not be accepted for free disposal. Scrap tires must be pre-approved for free disposal.
