WASHINGTON, D.C.– Rep. Virginia Foxx reintroduced legislation that would prevent intrusive political phone calls, or robo-calls, from being made to anyone signed up on the national “Do Not Call” registry, The Hill reports.

The Robo Calls Off Phones Act is meant to let people opt out of “a bothersome campaign-season interruption, according toFoxx.

“Every campaign season, like clockwork, families are bombarded by an endless stream of political robo-calls,” she said in a statement to The Hill.

The bill would direct the Federal Trade Commission to revise its regulations to prohibit pre-recorded campaign calls from being sent to people on the registry.
