FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Maj. Daniel Toven and Johnathan Taylor celebrated their marriage Saturday as Fort Bragg’s Main Post Chapel held its first same-sex ceremony.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that the couple exchanged vows and were blessed in front of more than 100 friends and family members.

The couple was married in Washington, D.C., in August but continue to live in Fayetteville, where they attend St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Toven is a commander and conductor of the Army Ground Forces Band at Fort Bragg and Taylor is a registered nurse in Fayetteville, according to the News & Observer.

The couple said they’ve enjoyed the support of many members of the military especially since the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy in 2011.
