Former Tiger Woods golf course site in NC for sale for $24M

FAIRVIEW, N.C. — It was supposed to be a Tiger Woods-designed golf course in Fairview. But now the 795 acres that included the golf course is back up for sale after the original development failed, according to WLOS.

The tract of land is listed at $24 million, but Michael Posey, one of two brokers listing the site, is quick to mention the property once sold for $40 million back when real estate was booming and before the housing market fell apart.

Back in 2007, Woods was golf’s golden boy and in Asheville to deliver the big news.

“We’re here to announce my first American golf course is going to be here at the Cliffs at High Carolina,” said Woods at a much buzzed-about news conference. The developer broke ground, but the 18-hole golf course envisioned inside the huge property, encompassed by mountain ridges, never got off the ground.
