WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — An arrest has been made in connection with the Winston-Salem State University shooting that left one student dead and another injured, according to Winston-Salem police.

The student who was killed has been identified as Anthony White Jr., a 19-year-old second-year student from Charlotte. The injured student, whose name is not being released by the university, has been released from the hospital. University officials did not provide information about the student’s injuries.

Police said Monday that 21-year-old Jarrett Jerome Moore was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police for outstanding warrants unrelated to the investigation in Winston-Salem.

After consultation with the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office, authorities in Winston-Salem charged Moore with murder and possession of weapons on school grounds in connection to White’s death.

Moore is a former student of WSSU, police said.

Authorities have determined that this incident only involved the suspect, the injured student and the deceased, police said.

No other suspects are being sought, police said.
