GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Former Gov. Beverly Perdue has gotten a speeding ticket for allegedly driving 70 in a 55-mph zone.

WRAL-TV reported that Perdue pleaded guilty Friday to a lesser charge to dispose of the ticket she got May 22 in Wayne County.

Perdue pleaded guilty to having improper equipment and paid a $25 fine plus court costs, records show.

Wayne County District Attorney Branny Vickery said that Perdue did not get any preferential treatment.

“She received the same treatment that any other citizen with a clean driving record would get in Wayne County,” Vickery said.
