Firefighters practice on controlled burn in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A controlled burn took place on Indiana Avenue in Winston-Salem Saturday afternoon on property donated to the fire department.

Officials said firefighters for the city were learning how a fire grows and moves inside a building.

Indiana Avenue was closed until around 6 p.m. but has since reopened.
