MAYODAN, N.C. — An “industry-leading” firearms manufacturer is considering the Mayodan area for an expansion, officials with the Rockingham County Partnership for Economic & Tourism Development announced Tuesday.
Officials have not disclosed what the company is, but Graham Pervier, president of the RCPETD, said it is not Remington Arms.
Pervier could not say how many jobs would be created as a result of the possible expansion, but he said it is “a substantial number.”
The company is now working to decide whether the region has enough qualified candidates to support the expansion, Pervier said.
The company is looking for workers with skills and experience as production associates, team leaders, production supervisors, tool makers, machinists, maintenance technicians and manufacturing engineers.
Those who may have interest in such positions are asked to send their full name, email address and resume to crystal.jrtc@yahoo.com or take their resumes to the Employment Security Commission office at 8340 N.C. Highway 87 in Reidsville. Representatives with the company will review the resumes, then invite qualified candidates to an open house event set for Tuesday, June 18.
During the open house, Pervier says company reps will provide more information about the company and participate in brief, one-on-one discussions with potential employees.
Pervier says the manufacturer will likely make a decision about locating in the area by the end of June.
