HIGH POINT, N.C. — A fire burned through Guilford County sheriff’s deputy Eric Stanley’s home on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire started at his home in the 3000 block of Derby Circle in High Point just after 1 p.m.
Investigators say the home is a total loss.
According to Sheriff BJ Barnes, Stanley had returned home to Derby Circle in High Point for his lunch break, leaving the patrol vehicle running for the K-9s to have air conditioning.
While Officer Stanley was in his residence having lunch with his family, they heard what seemed to be a pop and noticed smoke. Upon investigation, Stanley noticed that his patrol vehicle was on fire, which then spread to his residence leaving all property unsalvageable.
Stanley was able to clear his home of his family and move them to a safe place and he also was able to remove the K-9s Kodie and Noble without any injury to either of the two animals.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time and is currently under investigation.
