Fight between inmates in Alamance County sends one to hospital

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A fight between two inmates sent one to the hospital Wednesday.

According to police, Gary L. Baldwin, 23, of Burlington, assaulted Jeffrey C. Coleman, 31, of Elon, with a mop handle.

Detention staff intervened and Coleman was taken to Alamance Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Coleman was treated and released from the hospital.

Baldwin was charged with  assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury.

He was placed under a $10,000 bond for the charge.

In addition, Baldwin was already being held under bonds totaling $100,800 for charges including robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault.
