Father and teenage son arrested after string of Lexington break-ins

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A 16-year-old and his father are facing charges after a string of break-ins in Lexington, according to the Davidson County Sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office reports Jonathan Nathaniel Chavis, 16, and Michael Lynn Chavis, 43, both of Lexington, were arrested in connection with three break-ins in Lexington.

According to arrest warrants, the two conspired over several days to commit larceny in order to get money to pay for outstanding court fines.

They are accused of stealing a 12 gauge single action Winchester model 37 shotgun, a baseball bat and loose change.

Michael Chavis is charged with conspiracy to break and enter a building with the intention to commit a felony, two counts of breaking or entering, larceny of a firearm, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Jonathan Chavis is charged with felony larceny of a firearm and two counts of larceny after breaking and entering.

The teenager is reportedly being charged as an adult.
