BOSTON — A fan at Friday evening’s game between the Boston Red Sox and Oakland Athletics was injured when she was struck by a bat, according to multiple media reports.

Facing Red Sox starter Wade Miley, Athletics third baseman Brett Lawrie broke his bat and a shard flew into the stands.
Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston wrote that the fan was “bleeding pretty profusely.”
The woman was taken away on a stretcher by medics.
According to the Boston Globe, the woman was struck in the head by the shard and sustained life-threatening injuries.
