RICHMOND, Va. -- The family of a Richmond, Va., man, who died after being shocked by a Taser, released police video of the incident.

Linwood Lambert, 46, died in May 2013 after he was shocked with a Taser by police outside of a South Boston, Va., emergency room, according to WTVR.

Video from the police cruiser shows what happened in the moments leading up to Lambert's death.

On May 4, 2013, police responded to a Super 8 motel in South Boston after receiving calls from people complaining about Lambert's behavior.

WSET reported that police handcuffed Lambert and decided to take him to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.

When police arrived at the emergency room, Lambert began kicking the window of the police car. In the video, an officer tells Lambert to stop and calm down.

As police tried to remove Lambert from the car he tried to run away and that's when he was shocked with a Taser.

At some point after being shocked, Lambert suffered cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead.

"We watched it together because we didn't know how we would handle it," Lambert's sister Gwendllyn Smalls told WTVR when asked about watching the videos for the first time. "We had nightmares afterwards. We're still going through our emotions as though we are having a second or third funeral."

The family recently filed a $25 million wrongful death suit against South Boston police.

In response to the lawsuit, South Boston police told WTVR that the Tasers were only deployed because Lambert became violent during the encounter.

Smalls told WTVR that she wants the officers to face criminal charges and be stripped of their badges.

According to an autopsy report obtained by WSET, Lambert died from "acute cocaine intoxication."

The case is currently before the U.S. District Court in Danville, Va.
