KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — State troopers say an Elon man was taken to the hospital Friday morning after the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer.

Trooper Chris Marioles says the accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 68 near the intersection at Hunting Cog Road.

According to Trooper Marioles, the driver of the tractor-trailer failed to stop in time to avoid colliding with the pickup truck, which was stopped for traffic.

Randy Kernodle, 53, who was driving the pickup, was taken to Wesley Long Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries that are not life-threatening, Marioles said.

Marioles identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Adrian Harper, 25, of Henry, Va. He is charged with failure to reduce speed.

No distractions or other factors contributed in the accident, Marioles said.
