Eden man wanted for shooting gun after fight outside pizza shop

EDEN, N.C. — Deputies are searching for an Eden man on outstanding warrants in connection with a fight in which gunshots were fired in Rockingham County. 

Deputies said Joey Wayne Alverson, 44, was involved in a fight with 51-year-old Jimmy Corum and 45-year-old Jody Corum in the roadway outside Roma’s Pizza at N.C. 87 North around 3:15 p.m. Sunday. 

After the fight, deputies allege Alverson ran to his vehicle, got a shotgun out of the trunk, and fired it at the Corums before leaving the area. 

Alverson is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and two counts of communicating threats.
