Earline Parmon, Forsyth County’s first black state senator, died Tuesday, according to the Emmanual Baptist Church in Winston-Salem.
Parmon, 72, most recently worked as the outreach director for Alma Adams, D-12th.
Parmon, a Democrat, served for 12 years on the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. She was elected to the North Carolina Senate in 2012 after serving as an N.C. House representative for 10 years.
