Driver who struck Gibsonville fire truck on I-40/85 cited

WHITSETT, N.C. — The driver of a car that caused a pickup to hit a fire truck on westbound Interstate 40/85 on Saturday morning was cited, according to the Highway Patrol.

All westbound lanes of the highway were closed near mile marker 139 for about half an hour after the 6:47 a.m. crash, Trooper Robert Graves said Sunday.

William Royal, 57, of Mebane, suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening in the crash, Graves said.
