Driver said she hydroplaned before crashing into Charlotte restaurant

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —The driver of an SUV that crashed into a restaurant in Charlotte Sunday said she hydroplaned.

Police are investigating the accident as weather-related. The driver told police she hydroplaned across the median, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into Lempira restaurant.

According to WSOC, six people were hurt, all of whom were customers.

Twenty people were in the restaurant at the time of the accident.

Four people with serious injuries were reportedly transported to Carolinas Medical Center, including an infant.

All are expected to survive.
