OAK ISLAND, N.C. — Dozens of dead sharks have been found washed ashore off the coast of North Carolina.

WECT-TV reported that the dead sharks were found washed ashore on a popular beach strand in Oak Island on Sunday morning.

The unidentified sharks ranged in size from about one to five feet, according to WECT-TV. A witness said he saw about 50 of them.

The sharks have since been picked up and removed from the beach strand, according to authorities.
