DOT to close Alamance Co. road Tuesday to install bridge girders

ALAMANCE CO., N.C. — The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to temporarily close a section of N.C. 100 (Haggard Avenue/Burlington Street) between Apple Street and N.C. 100 (Elon Bypass/University Drive) to install bridge girders for the new Cook Road bridge over N.C. 100.

Officials said crews will close the road from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. each night on Tuesday and Wednesday. All work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Thursday/

During the nightly closures, motorists can use the following signed detour:

  • N.C. 100 (Haggard Avenue/Burlington Street) to Apple Street to be Gibsonville-Ossipee Road to Manning Avenue to N.C. 100/Elon Bypass/University Drive back to N.C. 100 (Haggard Avenue/Burlington Street).
