ZEBULON, N.C. — It was a close call for one pooch in North Carolina.
The dog, named Brody, was out playing with his 12-year-old owner when he suddenly fell through an icy pond.
His owner quickly ran home to call for help.
Crews from two fire departments came out to rescue Brody.
They tied two ladders together in an attempt to reach the dog, but the weight of the ladder broke more of the ice.
The firefighters then managed to get Brody to safety using a long hook.
The pooch was met with warm blankets and hugs.
