GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Residents of a small Georgia town are furious after a photo showing a Democratic Party campaign bus illegally dumping raw sewage was released by police.

Officials were called to a local O’Reilly Auto Parts after receiving reports of an RV dumping its sewage into a storm drain, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

“Crews found a small amount of discharged sewage material on the side of the roadway, adjacent to a storm drain,” said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge. “According to a witness, the discharge was from a DNC tour bus that pulled into the lane off the main road. The tour bus was not at the scene when firefighters and Lawrenceville police arrived.”

The dumping created a short-term biohazard situation for the city, but it evaporated before Hazmat crews arrived on scene.

A DNC spokesperson apologized for the incident, calling it an “honest mistake.”

This was an honest mistake and we apologize to the Lawrenceville community for any harm we may have caused. We were unaware of any possible violations and have already taken corrective action with the charter bus company to prevent this from happening again.

The bus driver has not yet been identified, but they could face charges for illegal dumping.
